Fencing
Fencing gives all athletes a great exercise experience! The main goal of fencing is to develop and improve balance, coordination and focus, benefiting the athlete both physically and mentally. Students will be introduced to techniques and strategies in different fencing situations based on their confidence regardless of level or experience. Fencers will learn proper footwork and blade work based on the Italian Fencing School method, recognized worldwide as safe, efficient and elegant. Fencing is a great activity for all ages. All the participants will use fencing jackets, masks, gloves and swords (foil) (MUST PROVIDE YOUR OWN EQUIPMENT).

Instructor: 
Mr. David Firmin – Ohio High School Fencing Champion and credentialed fencing Coach and licensed fencing director. Experienced in teaching the Russian and Italian fencing schools, Mr. Firmin began fencing his instruction at Wright State University and the Kettering Recreation Center. He has placed second in the Great Lakes Region: Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky, for all three weapons, placing 30th nationally in Sabre and 40th in Epee in Division 1. Although he prefers Sabre, he has a breadth and depth of experience training students privately in all three weapons in preparation for local and national tournaments. He learned Sabre and Epee from Olympic Gold Medalist Vladimir Nazlymov while head coach at the Ohio State University.
