The Prevention Team at Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley will be offering several programs at the OCC.  These programs will be FREE but do require Pre-Registration.

WISE
Are you 55 or older and looking for an opportunity to learn how to stay healthy and meet new people? Join us and bring a friend starting Monday, February 28th through Monday, April 4th from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. on Monday evenings for six weeks in the Large Classroom at the Oakwood Community Center.
In this free class you will:




  •  Learn about the aging process and how to make healthy lifestyle choices.


  •  Celebrate this exciting stage of life and all the benefits that come with it.


  •  Discuss risk factors and behaviors you should avoid to stay healthy.


  •  Examine how alcohol, prescription medications and over-the-counter medications affect seniors differently and how you can avoid problems.


  •  Learn how to use simple tools to help you feel more empowered about your health and the healthcare you receive.




Free refreshments and giveaways for those participating in the program! You will be entered in a drawing if you attend all six weeks!

Generation Rx (younger)

Prescription medicines play a critical role in healthcare. Advances in drug discovery and development help us all live longer and healthier lives, as long as we follow some important safety principles.
 
Join us on Wednesday, February 9th and your child can earn their “Medication Safety Patrol” badge! After participating in a variety of educational activities, your family will better understand key medicine safety principles like:




  •  Only take medicine with the permission of a trusted adult.


  •  Do not share or take someone else’s medication.


  •  Keep medicine in its original container.




This free program is offered by Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley Prevention Team, and designed for families of children ages 6 to 12 years old.

Generation Rx (older)

The Generation Rx educational program includes engaging, hands-on activities that focus on teaching teens and adults safe medication practices, as well as techniques for turning down the invitation to misuse and engaging in positive alternatives.

Join us on Wednesday, March 9th for the Generation Rx program to help your family better understand key medicine safety principles like:




  • Only take medications as instructed by a healthcare professional.


  • Do not share or take someone else's medication.


  • Store and dispose of your medication safely.


  • Model safe prescription medication practices.




This free program is offered by Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley Prevention Team and designed for teens and adults.
