Scarecrow Building Contest 2026 - City of Oakwood's Annual Contest
Join the Annual Scarecrow Building Contest!
Bring your creativity and be part of one of our favorite fall traditions! The City is hosting its Annual Scarecrow Building Contest, and we need your help to make this fun-filled, family-friendly event a success.
Last year, 26 families, neighborhood groups, businesses, and community organizations came together to create a spectacular Scarecrow Row. This year, we're hoping to make it even bigger!
Gather your team—whether it's your family, neighbors, Brownie troop, co-workers, club, or another group—and build the most creative scarecrow you can imagine.
Once you register, you'll be assigned a location on Shafor Boulevard to display your scarecrow for the entire community to enjoy.
Scarecrows will be judged on creativity and originality, with prizes awarded for:
- First Place
- Second Place
- Third Place
- Mayor's Award
Judging will take place during the Family Fall Festival on October 11, 2026.

Registration Deadline: Thursday, October 8, 2026 @ 9:00 P.M.
We cannot accept entries by phone or email. We must receive the application in person at the OCC. We will not hold any location and we must give out locations in order, according to our list.
