Ready to learn and play American Mahjong? Led by Danielle Fritz — "The Mahjongette" — a full time American Mahjong educator known for her clear teaching style, upbeat energy, and welcoming approach to new players. This special THREE session series is designed for fun, supportive, and hands on play. Leave confident, connected, and ready to join open play sessions across the greater Dayton area. Tiles, racks, mats, and all teaching materials included — just bring your smiles and your curiosity.
Part 1: Intro to American Mahjong
We’ll start with a beginner-friendly overview of:
Tile types and how to recognize them
Basic game flow and vocabulary
What happens during the Charleston
How a hand is built and how Mahjong is declared
No pressure, no memorization, no judgment—just a clear, approachable hands-on introduction.
Part 2: Your First Guided Game
Once you’re comfortable with the basics, we’ll move right into a full, instructor-guided game.
You’ll learn:
How to read the National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) card
How to set up your racks and tiles
How to do the Charleston
How to pass, call, and discard
Part 3: Your Second Guided Game
A full, instructor-guided game using the 2026 NMJL card.
You’ll learn:
How to do the full Charleston (Blind Passes & Courtesy)
How to choose a hand and pivot when needed
How to follow table rhythm and make decisions with confidence
We’ll walk you through every step, so you never feel lost or overwhelmed.
