4:30 PM - 5:30 PM    Bicycle Safety Class - Beginning Riding - Bicycle Safety Class
This class is taught by an Oakwood Safety Officer and is designed for the beginner rider.  All participants must have the appropriate safety gear prior to the beginning of the class.  There is one class of Beginning Riding in this program.  There is a separate class on E-Bikes and E-Scooters in a separate program. This class will provide age appropriate education and skills for the beginner riders.  The children will be instructed on safety issues,  equipment and basic handling skills.  All participants MUST be able to ride a bike before the session begins.  There will be a bike ride at the end of the class.  Participants need to bring their bicycle and all safety equipment, helmets, etc.  Also, participants must be allowed to cross the street.Topics covered:  Adjusting the bike to fit size, Bicycle inspections and minor bicycle repair, Safety equipment, Legal issues, Sidewalk safety, crossing streets, Mounting and braking skills.This class will be complete in one evening.  The class will be held rain or shine.  If inclement weather occurs there will be no bicycle ride at the end of class.Day/Date:  Wednesday, May 27, 2026Registration Deadline:  Sunday, May 24, 2026Time:  4:30 P.M. - 5:30 P.M. Fees:  $7 (M)*, $10 (NM & NR)*Discounts are applied at checkout Location: OCC Large Classroom

Introduction to Ikebana Japanese Flower Arrangement(Ages 11 and above) Ikebana is one of Japan’s traditional cultural arts, in which flowers, grasses, and branches are arranged in a container to express the beauty of the four seasons. Also known as Kado, - literally “the way of flowers”, Ikebana is far more than floral decoration. It is a life long discipline through which one refines both technique and sensibility. Here is your chance to enjoy the art without traveling to Japan. Mayumi Hall, originally from Japan, is a third term master of Ohara School of Ikebana. Items to bring to the class: Garden sheers/strong scissors, a hand towel/rag and newspapers/small bucket to take flower home. Instructor: Mayumi Hall is originally from Japan. Mayumi is currently the president of Miami Valley Chapter of Ohara School of Ikebana and a member of Ikebana International of Dayton. Introduction to Ikebana Japanese Flower Arrangement(Ages 11 and above) Ikebana is one of Japan’s traditional cultural arts, in which flowers, grasses, and branches are arranged in a container to express the beauty of the four seasons. Also known as Kado, - literally “the way of flowers”, Ikebana is far more than floral decoration. It is a life long discipline through which one refines both technique and sensibility. Here is your chance to enjoy the art without traveling to Japan. Mayumi Hall, originally from Japan, is a third term master of Ohara School of Ikebana. Items to bring to the class: Garden sheers/strong scissors, a hand towel/rag and newspapers/small bucket to take flower home. Instructor: Mayumi Hall is originally from Japan. Mayumi is currently the president of Miami Valley Chapter of Ohara School of Ikebana and a member of Ikebana International of Dayton.
